Placebo control trials are the gold standard for determining the true therapeutic effect of interventions. However, placebo trials commonly face difficulties in participant recruitment due to a lack of willingness to participate especially in surgical placebo trials due to its inherently invasive nature and higher risks of anaesthetic adverse events and infection.
